Classic Style of a Vessel Sink Vanity

One of the most elegant an unique styles of bathroom sink chest today is the vessel sink vanity. Gone are the days when every American home had a standard porcelain bowl mounted on the wall; the bathroom sink vessel is one of the most modern choices. Today's bathroom sink chest designs are actually more like works of art, which is a bit of a return to the Renaissance.

While new to the modern world, the vessel sink vanity isn't really new to the design world historically. The wash basins that were used for the bathroom sink chest during the 1700's and 1800's in Europe and the Americas inspire these modern styles. The bathroom sink vessel consists of a bowl-shaped sink that fills with water from a faucet, placed on a vanity table. In the old days people had to fill it with water themselves, but a modern vessel sink vanity does all the work itself.

Since the bathroom's sink chest is usually the focal point of the bathroom, constructing a new bathroom or renovating an old one requires giving the sink area the most attention. A discerning homeowner who is looking to install something fashionable yet timeless should consider a vessel sink vanity. It is important however, to mention the disadvantage of a vessel sink, which is the fact that it is not ideal for family bathrooms where small children will need to use it. Since a vanity table mounted with a vessel sink requires extra height, a small child will likely not be able to reach up and into the bowl. A bathroom that is not shared with any small children will benefit greatly from an artistic and unique centerpiece bathroom vessel sink. You can match the vessel sink to your bathroom, because there are many different designs to choose from.

When considering the installation of a new vessel sink vanity, the first thing to consider is the plumbing. Vessel sinks are mounted on top of the vanity table, so a traditional 4" or 5" faucet will not work. Vessel sink vanity faucets generally come in two styles, which are wall-mounted and deck-mounted. The deck-mounted faucets required for the bathroom sink vessel are quite tall, and usually feature some type of goose neck design. This allows the faucet to reach above the edge of the vessel sink vanity, giving enough room for people to wash their hands.

Deck mounted bathroom sink vessel faucets are the easiest to install, since they just require a hole in the vanity table using the existing plumbing. Wall-mounted faucets require some preparation before installing the bathroom sink chest. This will work fine in the instance of a new home that does not have existing plumbing to deal with, though. There are many designs available for the discerning homeowner who wants a vessel sink vanity, designs which are quite easy to install or that can be professionally installed.
